Strong performances at Tour du Doubs & GP Paul Borremans
With the Tour du Doubs on Sunday and the GP Paul Borremans on Monday, it were again busy days for Leopard Pro Cycling. The Luxembourgish UCI Continental side be satisfied with the results obtained in both races.
On Sunday, Szymon Rekita coloured Leopard's day at the Tour du Doubs by being present in the breakaway of six. This was the plan beforehand, to ride an offensive race. The group took a maximum of five minutes advantage, but the pack held all under control on the demanding course. At 60 kilometers from the finish line, the gap was only one minute, but since Rekita became winner of the mountains classification, his race was already succesful.
Then, a small group of attackers went away from the pack, but unfortunately Leopard's Jan Maas and Jack Burke - who were well protected and put in perfect position for the final by the other guys - just missed out on this move. The nine attackers remained in front, with Stefan Küng being the strongest of them all in Pontarlier. In the end, Maas finished sixteenth and Burke 22nd, which is a satisfying results in thig tough race with hard competition.

On Monday, two Leopard Pro Cycling riders went to Belgium to race the GP Paul Borremans in Viane, which is a so-called Pro Kermesse race. After 168 kilometers of hard, Belgian style racing, a bunch sprint was needed to decide the winner. In this sprint, Lionel Taminiaux was the fastest. Leopard's Colin Heiderscheid took a very solid sixth position.

"Luckily, all went according to our race plan at Tour du Doubs. We had Szymon in the group of the day and he showed a strong ride, which resulted in being the best climber of the day. Of course, these efforts cost him some energy and he was not able to compete for a top result anymore. In the bunch we had Jack and Jan who were able to save energy with the support of the others. Both guys rode a nice final. Of course you hope for a top ten result and it was not missing much. All in all, we can be happy with our performance in such a difficult race with high quality riders participating."
