Skjelmose Jensen signs contract at Trek-Segafredo
Mattias Skjelmose Jensen will start the 2021 season as part of Trek-Segafredo. The 20-year-old was already a trainee at the American WorldTour team.
Trek-Segafredo have been following Skjelmose Jensen already for quite some time and this year he was able to confirm his promising values and skills. During his four races as part of the team, he was able to convince the management that he is ready for the next step in his career. The Dane showed himself at amongst others the Trofeo Matteotti and was part of the early break at De Brabantse Pijl. Skjelmose Jensen makes quick progress in his cycling career, having joined Leopard just prior to the 2020 season. Due to the shortened season, the stage race specialist was not able to get the best results this year, but the strong results from his junior period – for example at Paris-Roubaix, the Course de la Paix and the Niedersachsen Rundfahrt – speak for themselves. Skjelmose Jensen is yet another Leopard Pro Cycling rider that makes the move to the top flight of cycling.

"First of all, I want to thank Leopard Pro Cycling for the support this year. Also a big thank you to Trek-Segafredo for giving me this opportunity to grow and reach my goals for the future. It has been a really strange year of course and it was not easy for many riders to secure a contract. Therefore, I will give everything I have to show everyone that Trek-Segafredo made the right choice by signing me."

Markus Zingen, Team Manager
“We are very proud that we are again able to bring up another strong rider to the WorldTour. The capabilities of Mattias were always very clear, it’s a shame that he was not really able to showcase them a lot this season, the reason for this is obviously well-known. Trek-Segafredo already offered him the chance to prove himself during his recent traineeship and Mattias took this chance with both hands. We wish Mattias all the best in the WorldTour and we will for sure see each other on the road again.”
