Official: Pit Leyder joins Cofidis as a trainee
Leopard Pro Cycling is happy to announce that Pit Leyder will join Team Cofidis as a trainee as of the 1st of August. At the French side, the 22-year-old will be able to gain experience on the professional level.
Pit Leyder joined Leopard Pro Cycling in 2016 after finishing tenth at the Junior World Championships in Richmond (USA) one season earlier. At Leopard, the Luxembourger made great progression from year to year and impressed on several ocassions, most of the times in hard races with steep climbs. The former Luxembourgish U23 road race champion showed his potential for example by finishing third in the Tour de Luxembourg (2018) and fourth in the U23 Tour of Flanders (2019). Needless to say that this traineeship at the UCI Pro Continental level is well-deserved.
Pit Leyder: "I am very happy to be given this opportunity. I feel grateful to be able to ride with Team Cofidis for the rest of the 2019 season. This is a small, but important step forward in my cycling career and I want to learn as much as possible from this experience. I am looking forward to racing on the professional level in the upcoming months. I want to thank both Team Cofidis and Leopard Pro Cycling for making this possible."
Markus Zingen, Team Manager Leopard Pro Cycling: "Of course we are happy for Pit that he gets the opportunity from Team Cofidis to prove himself and gain more experience. We wish him good luck and for sure the traineeship will help Pit to improve even more for the upcoming challenges."
