Leopard Pro Cycling to race at SAZKA Tour
Pack your climbing legs, as Leopard Pro Cycling will be at the start line of a tough edition of the SAZKA Tour, previously known as the Czech Cycling Tour.
SAZKA Tour (UCI 2.1)
05.08 | Prostějov - Uničov | 150.8 km
06.08 | Olomouc - Pustevny | 203.4 km
07.08 | Moravská Třebová - Dlouhé stráně | 143.2 km
08.08 | Šumperk - Šternberk | 174.1 km
On paper, the race starts with the most easiest stage. However, the first stage has already many uphill roads before the finish line in Uničov is reached. Stages two and three have a combined total of almost 6.000 altitude meters, so one can predict that these stages will be far from easy. On the second day, no less than five categorized climbs are on the menu, with the climb up to Pustevny (9.9 km at 5.5%) that needs to be conquered two times. Also on stage three the final climb to Dlouhé Stráně (12 km at 6.9%) will be taken on two times. As if the SAZKA Tour was already not hard enough, the final stage takes the riders after a very difficult start to Šternberk, where four local laps are situated, with the Na Valech climb as final decider over the GC win.
For Leopard Pro Cycling it will be the sixth participation in the Czech Republic. In 2013, Kristian Haugaard finished in second position, whereas Jan Maas (2019, 13th) and Mauro Schmid (2020, 18th) also showed a good performance. Jan Maas is back again this year, looking for yet another good result as he finds a terrain which is to his liking. The team will be competing with two UCI World Teams, five UCI Pro Teams and ten other UCI Continental Teams. We will be looking for the successor of last years winner Damien Howson.
