Krieger leaves Leopard to turn pro at Alpecin-Fenix
It is with great pleasure that Leopard Pro Cycling is able to share the news that Alexander Krieger has been able to sign a professional contract. The German makes a well-deserved transfer to the Belgian Alpecin-Fenix side.
After five years, the cooperation between Alexander Krieger and Leopard Pro Cycling has come to and end. The German has been riding for Leopard since the 2015 season and was able to gather some very satisfying in the black, blue and white. Two of his most impressive results are his fifth GC position of the 2018 Skoda Tour de Luxembourg - after finishing two times in second place in the stages - and the second GC position of the 2018 Tour de Normandie. Being an allrounder with a fast sprint, Krieger also found himself back in the top ten of difficult classic races such as the Elfstedenronde (Bruges Cycling Classic), the GP Jean-Pierre Monseré, the GP Marcel Kint, the GP Jef Scherens, the Famenne Ardenne Classic and the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro. After being very consistent for many years, the intented transfer finally takes place. In 2020, Krieger's dream comes true as he will join Alpecin-Fenix, where he hopes to play a big role in the classic races and other big events on the calendar.
Markus Zingen, Team Manager
"I am very happy that Alexander has been able to make a transfer. Due to his strong results, year after year, he was already a few times very close to the professional level. At Leopard, we are all sure that Alexander has what it takes to be a succesfull professional cyclist. Of course, it's tough to let go a rider with the capabilities of Alexander, but at the other hand I am also happy that yet another Leopard cyclist is able to take the next step in his career."
