Cycling season continues at Tour of Bitwa Warszawska
Last Sunday, Leopard Pro Cycling finished the Czech Tour, and now - three days later - the start of the Tour of Bitwa Warszawska is already upon us. Leopard starts the race with a quality group of motivated riders.
The Race
The Tour of Bitwa Warszwaska 1920 is a race with historical value. The race translates to Tour of the Battle of Warsaw, with 1920 referring to the year in which the series of battles took place. Starting as of today, also on the road one can expect quite the battle with lots of gravel and cobbled roads coming up. The Tour of Bitwa Warszwaska starts with a short and technical prologue of about two kilometers in the streets of the Polish capital. On day two, the race progresses to Radzymin for a seven-lap local circuit. As the riders will ride from Legionowo to Serock on the third stage, the Narev river will be crossed, a strategic place back in the Polish-Soviet War in 1920. As it is now situated far from the finish line, it is not expected to play a strategic role this time around. The race then will head into the weekend for the longest stage of the race on Saturday (151 kilometers), before concluding the entire tour on Sunday in Płońsk. With all stages being mostly flat, every second on the road will count.

"We will be at the start line with a strong team, we will be in a good shape after the Czech Tour. Although I had a crash there, which caused a painful knee, now it is getting better day by day, so normally all will be fine. At the Tour Bitwa Warszwaska there are opportunities for us every day. Maybe the prologue is a little bit too short for me, but let's see what is possible. I am also looking forward to the other stage with some challenging cobbles and gravel sections. Finally, I am happy to be back racing again - especially in my home country - and I hope that the season will continue and I can perfom well at the Polish, European and World Championships."
