Arno Wallaard Memorial next stop for Leopard Pro Cycling

No more hills, no more altitude meters. This weekend, Leopard Pro Cycling heads towards the Arno Wallaard Memorial to race in a typical Dutch setting with narrow roads, wind and plenty of strong teams fighting for the victory.

The Arno Wallaard Memorial will take traditionally place in Meerkerk, a small town near the city of Utrecht. At 14:30 the start will be given, sending the riders over two big laps of 76 kilometers each before entering five 6,5 kilometers long laps in the late final. In total the riders will ride 184 kilometers in this race that is part of the Holland Cup, a competition with the four Dutch UCI 1.2 races. This means that the Dutch teams will be very motivated to perform in front of the home crowd. With a lot of narrow roads, changes in direction and the expected wind, the race can become very tough. For the riders, it is necessary to remain focused throughout the day if you want to be able to fight for the victory. It is Leopard Pro Cycling's fourth participation at the Arno Wallaard Memorial. In 2013, Sean De Bie finished in third position and Alexander Krieger rode to another top ten finish by crossing the line in eighth in 2017. Last year, the team rode active but a top result was missing.

In recent years there was almost always a small group coming to the finish line to fight for the win. There will be a risk of crosswinds tomorrow and with lots of narrow roads, we want to ride active and be in the front all the time. We come here to play a role and we have the team to do so. We have also two fast guys here with Colin Heiderscheid and Konrad Gessner, so there will also be good options if the race will be decided in a bunch sprint. Otherwise we have some guys who will try to make the race as hard as possible."
